Challenges

The most challenging aspect of this role was adapting to the corporate environment, as it was my first experience working in a corporate setting. Understanding the specific needs and expectations of the project required clear communication and effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Additionally, structuring the mortgage prototype in a user-friendly and functional way required a deep understanding of both the product and client requirements.

Solutions

I overcame the challenges by quickly adapting to the corporate processes and emphasizing clear communication. By working closely with the team and iterating on the design based on feedback, I was able to develop a mortgage prototype that met the needs of the users. This experience also helped me develop my skills in structuring products and interacting with clients.

Results

My work on the mortgage prototype was well-received, leading to new opportunities within the company. I was approached by a VP(who became a great mentor & friend) to collaborate on a project to send money via messages—a concept similar to what later became Venmo and Cash App. This experience significantly enhanced my design and communication skills, opening doors to more interesting projects and contributing to my ongoing career growth.

Conslusion

Unfortunately, despite the successes and the exciting opportunities that emerged from this role, the job came to an end due to the site location closing. While this was an unexpected conclusion, the experience and skills I gained during this time laid a strong foundation for my future roles in UX/UI design and development.
